Because I Have To is a five person dance play written to be paired with a 5 Course Dessert Tasting Menu as part of an experimental concept “Dining and Dancing”. Exploring classic summer flavors and themes, the story revolves around a sexy romance, unexpected heartbreak, and a journey of personal revival. As much as traditional romance is a catalyst for the protagonist’s main journey of self-discovery and self-investment, the heart of this story lies in her almost divine relationship with her sister and the love she’s shown by her chosen family.

Naomi Kay Tanner is a transdisciplinary artist operating out of uptown Manhattan. She is a tenth generation Texan raised in Garland and has lived, performed, created, and transformed in NYC for over ten years.
